Let's Talk Architecture and Resilient Communities
A German-Danish debate warming up to the UIA World Congress in Copenhagen
Join us for a Danish-German dialogue on how architecture can contribute to building futures both sustainable and equitable.
Rapid urbanization and high-density cities are putting unprecedented pressures on the way we live. Innovative design solutions and policies are necessary to secure communities strong enough to handle the urban challenges. But how do we achieve those goals?
Through a cross-cultural dialogue we explore how German and Danish architects and urban planners are balancing the variety of aspects needed in comprehensive urban development, that strengthens resilient communities.

Let's keep talking in Copenhagen, the UNESCO World Capital of Architecture 2023–2025
In July 2023, Copenhagen will be hosting the International Union of Architects' (UIA) World Congress of Architects, with the title »Sustainable Futures – Leave no one behind.« From 2023 to 2025, the Danish capital has also been designated the UNESCO World Capital of Architecture.
Leading up to the congress, we are hosting a series of cross-cultural talks with architects from Denmark, the United States, Italy, France, and Germany. During these talks we will discuss architecture as an essential tool for achieving many of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the overriding principle of »Leave no one behind.«
This talk is organized by Danish Architecture Center, UIA2023CPH, and Creative Denmark in cooperation with the Danish Embassy in Berlin and the Architektenkammer Berlin.
The project is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture Denmark. Danish Architecture Center (DAC) is an international cultural attraction creating engaging experiences and debates about architecture, design, and urban development through exhibitions, tours, events, learning, and networking. DAC is a public-private partnership between the foundation Realdania and the Danish government.
