ACTS is an international vibraphone trio consisting of Axel Filip (ARG). Gard Kronborg (NO) and Amund Stenøien (NO). Through the identities of the three composers and the unique sound of vibraphone with pedals, acoustic bass guitar and drum set, their music has a strong background in American, Norwegian and Argentinian jazz tradition. ACTS is exploring a modern jazz sound with sonorous electroacoustic expression and explosive rhythmics, and after playing a series of well-received concerts in Norway the last years, they are releasing their first album »The Unconscious« this October. The album will be accompanied with a tour in Germany, Norway and Netherlands.

FUSK
Donnerstag, 17. Oktober, 20:30 Uhr
FUSK Trio is a jazz band led by the Danish drummer and composer Kasper Tom. The trio plays surprising, unconventional compositions and free improvisations. The three musicians in FUSK all have a very personal approach to their instruments which comes to show in the open way that the band plays the often complex compositions.
The sound of the band is maybe best desribed by critic Adam Baruch: »The music is a wonderful display of Kasper Tom's talent as a composer. His tunes are always somewhere between a catchy melodic theme and an open structure ideal for improvisation and exploration. Such incredible balance is quite rare and difficult to achieve and yet Kasper Tom manages to create these tunes with astonishing ease and versatility. Handled by FUSK, these tunes playfully follow one after another effortlessly, although they are anything but trivial or easy on the ear. The incredible strength of this music lies exactly in the fusion of melodic approach and complex execution, which result in aesthetic pleasure experienced by the listener, often unaware of its ingredients.«
Rudi Mahall – clarinet + bass clarinet
Jan Roder – double bass

Ingi Bjarni Quintet
Samstag, 26. Oktober, 20:30 Uhr
Icelandic pianist Ingi Bjarni brings together artists and friends from his longtime association with Scandinavia, in a quintet consisting of Norwegian trumpeter Jakob Eri Myhre, Estonian guitarist Merje Kägu, Faroese double bassist Bárður Reinert Poulsen and Norwegian drummer Tore Ljøkelsøy.
Leading from the piano – equally as director, colorist and soloist – Ingi Bjarni observes the tonal synergy between Myhre’s trumpet lines and Kägu’s electric-guitar hues, enlivened by or ambiently bathed in the sensitive bass and percussion of Poulsen and Ljøkelsøy. All the while, the spacial and improvised diversity of their output vividly reflects Ingi Bjarni’s desire to diminish boundaries of genre, though his work is particularly influenced by jazz tradition, Nordic folksong and electronica.
In 2019 the quintet released its first studio album, »Tenging« (connection). The album received positive reviews internationally, and it got five nominations for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2020. In 2023, the quintet released a new album called »Farfuglar« (travelling birds). The idea behind the title is, that even when travelling is difficult, we can always travel as explorers of music. Also, we can connect through music, even if we are far apart.
